On the Progression of Ghoul Fever
Ghoul Fever begins subtly, often mistaken for a common ailment: chills, muscle weakness, and loss of appetite. But within a day, victims find their strength fading, their limbs trembling, and their sleep filled with nightmarish whispers in languages they do not understand.
After the first 24 hours, the disease begins to ravage the body, draining vitality and will, and begins to drive a great hunger for raw meat. Attempts to resist the fever require great endurance or magical healing. The fever resists conventional remedies, and each day it deepens its hold.
After three to four days, if the fever remains unchecked, the victim dies.
But this death is not the end.
At the next moonrise following death, the corpse rises anew, claws extending, eyes burning with unnatural hunger. All memories are not lost—some ghouls remember fragments of their lives, faces of loved ones, or the injustices that led to their end.
