The Osprey Club — an elusive network of rogues, smugglers, and information brokers under the control of Yinyasmera, former proprietor of the Crook’s Nook — recently dispatched a small crew into the depths of Gauntlight Keep. Their objective, while unclear to most, appeared to centre on locating a teleportation or transportation device — something Yinyasmera has knowledge of and access to a ritual for.
The party discovered that four thieves had entered the ruins. One perished, sacrificed by cultists. The remaining three were found imprisoned and brutalised by Morlocks in the Servants’ Quarters, under the watch of the brutal Morlock leader Graulgust and his cadre of “engineers.”
The Rescue
- The party encountered the three surviving Osprey Thieves starved, bloodied, and armed only with makeshift shivs, trapped inside a stone prison under constant surveillance.
- Rather than negotiate with Graulgust, the adventurers hatched a plan involving illusion, trickery, and ambush. Through a combination of distraction (Caligo’s illusion of Augrael), performance (Glock’s staged brawl), and clever placement, they lured Graulgust and his guards into the trap.
- A short, brutal fight ensued, in which the party and the freed thieves overwhelmed the Morlocks. Radagast, transformed into an ape, crushed enemies with terrifying strength.
- The Osprey Thieves proved useful in the fray, and were temporarily allowed to travel with the party—albeit under thinly veiled threats and intimidation from Glock and Machival.
- The prisoners shared what they knew: Yinyasmera had sent them to locate an ancient transportation device hidden somewhere near Gauntlight, though they were unaware of its exact function or location.
- They followed the adventurers deeper into the ruins, eventually arriving at the lair of the Cult of the Ghost Queen — a faction of intelligent, flesh-craving ghouls.
The Sacrifice
- Upon arrival, the ghouls demanded a “donation of flesh.”
- After some deliberation the adventurers offered up the three Osprey Thieves as tribute, and for safe passage.
- Despite the thieves’ pleas for help and betrayal-laced screams, the ghouls eagerly accepted the offering, dragging them into the depths of the library, presumably for consumption or ritual.
- The act was calculated, brutal, and pragmatic
Current Status:
Presumed dead or undead.
Their ultimate fate remains uncertain, but considering the appetites and practices of the Cult, it is likely the Ospreys were either devoured, transformed, or reanimated in service to the Ghost Queen.
